The bodies of work created by Tal Shoshan generate worlds in which body, space, and imagination are interwoven through an exceptional formal and sensory syntax. Her works are processed from diverse materials and transformed into charged sculptural grounds. They move between the synthetic and the organic, sustaining a tension between seduction and unease. She examines how symbols of belonging and political order are embedded in the body and the intimate sphere, woven into the very materials she works with.
The environments she constructs are inhabited by hybrid bodies and structures that recall internal organs as well as architectural arenas, in a constant state of becoming. The installations she articulates function as living constellations of matter, light, and form, producing an intensified sensory experience in which the private body and the public order are bound together.
Tal Shoshan, born in 1969, holds an MFA from Wimbledon School of Art, London, and a BFA from the Department of Jewelry and Fashion at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Over the years she has presented her major bodies of work at Chelouche Gallery. Shoshan headed the Fashion and Accessories program in the Design Department at Seminar Hakibbutzim College. She is the recipient of the Oscar Handler Prize and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad.
