​Ruven Kuperman’s unsettling and surprising encounter with the figure of Samson, through David Grossman’s book Lion's Honey: The Myth of Samson and the eponymous story penned by Ze’ev Jabotinsky, originated the series of works featured in this exhibition. Kuperman’s fascination with the biblical judge is perhaps not as surprising as it first seems. As an artist who responds and engages with his surroundings, he saw the biblically story as a parable, a relevant tale that unfolds before him and lends itself to a myriad of readings and perspectives.
